The Lava Center is a special exhibition, entirely dedicated to volcanism in Iceland. As Iceland is the home of around 30 active volcanic systems, it is the most volcanic island on the planet. Volcanoes have therefore shaped both the landscapes and the history of Iceland.
This exhibition is very modern and interactive, displaying a vast array of information in a fun way which will be appreciated by the whole family.
Seljalandsfoss waterfall is the very first waterfall you will see when you are driving on the Icelandic South Coast from Reykjavík. This majestic waterfall, 60 meters tall, has a very unique feature.
Behind the waterfall, an immense cave allows visitors to walk behind and around the waterfall. Seeing the waterfall from its back side, listening to it echoing against the walls of the cave, is an experience to remember. Bring a rain jacket!
Please note that in the core of winter, the path behind the waterfall is impassable and will be closed.
The waterfall of Skógafoss is probably the most famous waterfall in Iceland. Visible directly from the road number One, Skógafoss is a mighty, powerful waterfall which is 60 meters tall.
Skógafoss even got more famous after being featured in Game of Thrones. The legend says that a giant has hidden a treasure behind the waterfall, but we will let your guide tell you everything about it!
Iceland is covered by glaciers on a surface of approximately 11% of its territory. Every glacier is unique. Sólheimajökull is no exception to this rule.
Partially covered by volcanic ashes from the eruptions of the nearby volcanoes, Sólheimajökull perfectly sums up the constrat of the South Coast of Iceland. Between glaciers and volcanoes, in the land of fire and ice.
Reynisfjara, also known by the fans of Game of Thrones as the location of the Dragon Glass Cave, is the most beautiful beach in Iceland. Rich in unique geological features, particularly the immense basaltic columns touching the ever-agitated sea.
But Reynisfjara is more than that. In the summertime, the cliffs over the beach transforms into the nesting ground of thousands and thousands of migratory birds, including the world famous puffin. Every year, they come from the ocean to diverse cliffs around Iceland to breed and nest.
Enjoy the original Lava Show in Vík. In a dark room, thanks to a one-of-a-kind furnace, some molten lava will be poured down in front of you.
As the lava comes out from a hole in the wall, and the heat fills the room, the speaker will tell you about the history of Icelandic volcanoes, and share precious information regarding lava and geology. This show is very visual and very interesting, it is ideal if you are traveling with kids!
