Your itinerary

1. Þingvellir National Park

The National Park of Þingvellir is the perfect place to start this tour. It is of high interest, both historically and geologically.

While in Þingvellir, you will find yourself at the exact place where was founded the very first parliament in the World, back in the year 930.

Not to mention that the North Atlantic ridge, which is the separation between the North American and the Eurasian tectonic plates, can be seen in only one place in the world: right under your feet. When standing on the viewing platform, you are literally standing on the very edge of the American continent.

2. Laugarvatn Hot Springs

On the side of a beautiful lake, we find a very active hot spring. This hot spring flows into the nearby lake of Laugarvatn, preventing it from freezing on its shore, even during our cold winters.

The sceneries from the lake are breathtaking with views over the Hekla volcano, and sometimes even Eyjafjallajökull, the volcano that exploded in 2010, causing massive disruption in the air traffic all over Europe.

This place has another particularity, a surprising use of Earth's heat, but this is something you will discover on site.

3. EfstiDalur Dairy Farm

Enjoy the best ice cream in Iceland. Home made in a dairy farm, owned by the same family since the year 1750, nowhere in Iceland (or even in the world?) will you get to taste a better ice cream.

Do you know that Icelanders are crazy about ice cream? It is not a rumour, Icelandic people will eat ice cream all year long, no matter the weather. Therefore, it is almost a cultural experience to try and have one!

4. Geysir and Strokkur

Geysir gave its name to all the geysers in the world. This is where the word "Geyser" originates from. Geysir comes from the Icelandic "Að geysa" which means: To gush.

But Geysir is nowadays dormant. It came out of the ground for the last time in the year 2000. Its little brotherStrokkur, is still very active, and erupting every 5 to 10 minutes on average.

5. Gullfoss

The touristic route that we call "Golden Circle" is named after this waterfall. Its name, Gullfoss, means "Golden waterfall".

There are different stories and legends to explain the name of Gullfoss. We will not write them here, and will leave to your guide the pleasure of telling you about them! Also note that this waterfall almost disappeared due to an industrial project, consisting in harnessing the power of the river in a hydropower plant.

6. Friðheimar Tomato Farm

If you wonder what we can grow outside, in our sub-arctic Icelandic climate, the answer is: not much! But fortunately our natural resources allow us to grow fruits and vegetables in greenhouses.

Visit the famous Tomato farm of Friðheimar, where geothermal power gives the little magic needed to grow and pick up to two tons of tomatoes every single day of the year. Inside of one of their greenhouses, we will have our lunch of the day.
